1. Lokpal will be an independent authority which will not be under the control of the government. No one can influence the investigation
2. Lokpal will be a quasi judicial body. Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years.
3. Any official who is proved guilty of an offence, his/her property will be seized and the amount of corruption will be recovered. The prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has no such provision.
4. Currently the Lokayutta at the state levels don’t have powers to hear the case, they can only recommend. The state level Lokayuttas will also get the power of sentencing.
5. Any false case filed against the official will be punished.
6. The functioning of the Lokpal will be done in a transparent manner.
7. Lokpal will be responsible to provide protection to the whistle blowers who raise their voice against corruption.
8. There is a time frame for execution of the work by the officers. If the time line is not adhered to by the officer, penalty will be levied on the guilty official and will be awarded to the complainant. If lokpal is approached then it is the duty of the lokpal to get the work done within a month.
9. you can even complain against issues like bad quality of roads Lokpal will have to investigate the same as well.
