Shiva Triology 1- The Immortals of Meluha

I have been fascinated about this book series by the praise I heard for this author and his work. After making right time to start with this book, also because of my pure interest in SPIRITUALITY, I haven't tried before reading any spiritual book but had followed the story of LORD SHIVA for the matter of fact of being Hindu by religion or otherwise the worship done in family but yes indeed, I had some interest in reading the book only for the matter of fact it being based on story of Lord Shiva and yet it offering something new and different was the another obvious reason to go for it!
Mind you! Taking the same story line and  trying to write it differently without deviating from it's real essence as well as fulfilling the essence on the main sculpture isn't totally an easy task which the author Amish had fulfilled to the greater extent if not completely.
Having known the story of Lord Shiva and reading something same in order to find something new was into itself a too high as a hope from deep inside of my tiny heart and yet the book had not disappointed me so much so that as soon as I finished with the first series I fetch the following one from the same series rather than taking a break and continuing with something else to refresh my mind.
The story, as already described is written based on the Modern lifestyle in the same spiritual sense, this is something that this man 'AMISH' did to break the ice. Well, to admit it or to confess, I have never been a person to love reading HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, WAR or TRAVEL type of books. And this book has almost all of these things and I held it high in my hands reading it over long late nights, wishing day not to end like this, getting scoldings from Parents for indulging too much into a book, hiding myself and pretending to be asleep sometimes to rescue from the taunts, I read the book that was very aptly descriptive neither too heavy nor too shallow. The imaginary descriptions awesomely transfuse to distill historic spiritual essence to transform the wholesomeness of actual momentary situations into the actuality of real world making them appear in front of your eyes as you read them. May it be the war, the wit, friendliness, faith or the dance of the Neelkanth it all transforms as real in the description without stretching it beyond reasons.
The story has newness yet wasn't vague. The historic heroes and other characters were very well defined, characterized, played into the plot that was not ditto to what any of us would have heard or seen as a story of Lord Shiva. Having seen the series of show Devon ke Dev Mahadev on Life OK channel I am well acquainted with the whole story. Yet Shiva and Sati of this new modern story are different yet similarly spiritual and soulful.
The part that touched me deeply-Ram rajya and the policies framed by Lord Rama. Having seen the caste system prevailing in INDIA since decades and surely going to go on for don't-know-how-long, what Amish wrote was such a perfect policy for the perfect empire like Meluhans'. I wished if the Karma of human being actually decided the fate of profession they would be in then many wouldn't have suffered in the past nor would have they been suffered this way in present and not in mere future. But well..  that's the PERFECT scenario... Still, it felt good to know the perfect scenario!
The Vikarma system-untouchable it's was and is indeed very strange one, the logic, the following of same in the society, it's difficult to curb it. Only Neelkanth could erase it but not from real India.
The fiction that Amish added, it's perfection make me feel whether the real GOD forgot to imbibe those principles in lives of humanity before their extinction for the real India still suffers from so much from it's vague beliefs that humanity is still in danger. Well, may be only God knows, whether he forgot or we forgot...
The death of Brihaspati was indeed shocking and sad. The friendship shown between Shiva and him was affectionately sweet and lovely. A friend anyone would want to have.
The faith of people of Meluhans' in the Neelkanth led normal man Shiva drive ahead and lead the humanity to free them from the EVIL. Shiva's past-the nightmare he get was the transformation of a child into man and yet the guilt remained forever which was also an essential for him to lead his destiny to save Meluhans'.
Sati, strong yet delicate, cultural yet revolting, loving yet opposing, supportive yet a thinker, daughter of King yet accepted the title of Vikarma. One of the wonderful character Amish has plot with the suspense of she being the Vikarma, her culture, her sacrifices, her dignity, her love, her support, everything about SATI was a learning for me as a woman, as an Indian woman.
Love of Shiva & Sati has always touched me deeply as a person who believes in soulmates. The attempt to sacrifice her life for Shiva by Sati and then Shiva's immense faith in saving Sati's life even though everyone gave up all hope was really touching phase.
The first part ends with the suspense whether the Nagas are the real evil if not the Chandravanshi?

P.S.: One thing I felt that could have been better is the cover of the book. Since Amish has depicted the importance of THE NEELKANTH so much in the book, the faith of people in people him by mere his name. I wish the cover pic would have been that of The Neelkanth than this one! (Just a thought being a complete reader whom title as well as cover too matters along with the story! ;-))
Well, I am not giving any sort of recommendations whether you should read this book or not but with the given summary of the same you felt like you can feed your brain with something from this one then go for it, for everyone has different taste and preferences in reading. You may sometimes experiment with your taste though, who knows you might like it? ;-)

Happy Reading! :-)

Living to live more...

Sometimes you just love to be on your own... No known person around you to talk to but your voice which you listen to. Just your heartbeat, your brain, your body and soul that you think about and also about others but not listening to someone or talking to someone but to yourself. You and your thoughts and the cool breeze coming from window of the train at night. Everything out of window seems running back but the true fact is you are moving ahead towards your destination.
At that moment you don't even wish to listen to songs but sing your own song, from deep inside your heart.
Analysing your life, analysing yourself, your character, your values, your true self, your day, your surrounding, your wishes, your dreams, your desires, your accomplishments, your life's sweet memories. Collecting all positive thoughts and memories and making bunch of it and tying it tight and keeping it in the centre of your heart and mind that gives you peace, self satisfaction, pride, happiness now and you save that bunch of happiness for future and keep adding to it more of the happiness.

Life is so amazing that when I listen about MOKSHA, I feel I want to relive life and understand it more and more and become better person in every life than I was in previous one. And may be after I have fulfilled all my dreams may my soul rest in peace. Until then I wish to live life to have the truth in me, to have the best character, to learn each day new values and culture for my betterment as a person, to get love as much as I can and to give love more than I get, to live life in such a way that my heart and soul live at peace from inside, not for money, not for luxury, not for hate, not for revenge, not for people, not for success, not for anything else but for my learning...
I bow to my life in contention and happiness, for beauty it has and for it's love and blessings.

The alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Few sentences that I would like to share from this book.

Here it goes,

Everyone, when they are young, knows what their destiny is. At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They're not afraid to dream and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realise their destiny.
Mysterious force appears to be negative but actually it shows you how to realise your destiny. It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is one great truth on this planet- whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the your soul. It's your mission on earth.

If you start out by promising what you don't even have yet, you'll lose your desire to work towards getting it.

Everything in life have it's price.

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

I'm like everyone else- I see the world in terms of what I would like to see happen, not what actually does.

Every blessing ignored becomes a curse.

When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.

We are afraid of losing what we have, whether it's our life or our possessions and property. But this fear evaporates when we understand that our life stories and the history of the world were written by the same hand.

When you possess great treasures within you, and try to tell others of them, seldom are you believed.

Anyone who interferes with the destiny of another never will discover his own.

Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happen twice will surely happen a third time.

No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know.

Indeed it is a nice read. I liked it more, for the main character in the book and I had one thing in common, we both love travelling. He wanted to see the world and I too aspire to see if not whole world but at least famous places. I love travelling and visiting different places knowing about them and meeting new people and knowing about them as well! :-)
Though as the story proceeded further I deviated from the main character. But everyone have different story!
I loved the storyline and more or less everything about the book. There is even love story involved. I guess life and it's learnings are incomplete without love in anyones life!
:-)

P. S.: Thanks to my friend Sara who thoughtfully bought this book and shared with me.
But Sara, I understood the story in once! :-P
May be because I always read books or watch movies or mostly do anything when I can concentrate properly so that the means of learning something from it is never lost and the purpose get served and not lead to waste of time. :-) It can also be because I'm use to reading such type of books!
Never mind I'm thankful to you for giving me such a nice book, I hope this much of buttering is enough to receive more good books in future! ;-)

Mahabharat!

I follow this show on Star Plus without fail, Mon-Fri 8.30pm.
I always wanted to know about the great battle. Why it had happened? How it happened? Everything happens for some purpose and I wanted to know that purpose behind it. Also about the great Geeta gyan that lord Krishna gives to Arjun.
It's been amazingly featured. I am loving it!
May it be exams but I'm taking out half an hour for this show out of my schedule or I see repeat telecast if I happen to miss it due to unenforceable circumstances! :-)
I have learned many things till now and hoping to seek few more answers about life, my life through preaching of Krishna. They've shown Krishna as a narrator and in between scenes he emerges and make us think about few things. I'm awed by this show! :-) Thankfully my family had agreed to watch it by sacrificing their very old and famous show, favourite too, not mine but theirs. Now they're thankful to me that I made them watch it! Dekha... :-)

Last time when the old version came I was too young as well as we started watching it when the battle had begun and I had so many questions in my mind about it. Never found time or gave efforts, to be true, to know the answers to those questions and now as soon as I heard that the new show is coming up I decided to watch it from the very first episode.
On weekends I guess they show whole weeks episodes, for those who can't follow on weekdays but they have many repeat telecasts during weekdays too!

Hoping to follow it till the end of it and seek enlightenment about life! :-)

In yesterday's episode Guru Dronacharya asked right hand thumb from Eklavya as gurudakshina! The boy gave it without an iota of doubt and yet there was smile and same respect for his guru in his heart. I've heard this story about Eklavya but I always had doubts about why did Dronacharya asked such a thing. There had been different interpretations about the same. In Todays episode they'll show why he did so?! Perception is what is key to any learning. How we perceive a particular incident give us reason to perceive it as a good or a bad happening. Knowing about something in it's originality changes our wrong perceptions and that difference in perceptions is what is amazing thing about learning! New and right perceptions develop new ways of thinking and looking at things differently. :-)

Do watch it if you can!
My request... It's important to know about our history too and especially about our very ancient periods. I'm eager to know more and more about it! For it being true story it attracts me more!

Marriage with Lord

An incident felt like sharing...

One of long distant relative of mine, a woman in her 30s yesterday got married but very specially!
Living in a village her parents couldn't provide her with the basic health facilities required by every child when she is born and very sadly she suffered from polio! Her body never grew beyond a child's body of around 4-5 year old. She grew up normally with her age, her mind grew, her understanding is normal like us but she failed to grow up physically. Unable to walk on her feets she can manage to perform all her tasks on own somehow. Unwillingly though but she is dependent on her family if not for her general works but for her living and other supports! Really, it's a difficult thing!
She couldn't get education too coz of her Polio.
In Hindus, marriage is considered as a must ritual, (here I will not like to give any of my personal opinion about "the marriage" thing but we all know that somewhere it's considered important for everyone in their lives. There are hardly people who live life without marrying ever. Few even get remarried in their 60s if their spouse die then marrying once is considered a must! That's the way it is!) and she being handicapped it's not possible to find a perfect match for her who can marry her as well as keep her at par to the relation of a wife. Like a normal girl she too had dreams of marriage. In front of her eyes, small cousin sisters got married. Her family and she both felt bad for her broken heart. She too wanted to marry. She too wanted to be a bride. She too wanted a spouse, a life partner. She too wanted to be centre of attraction of everyone, for a day though. She too wanted to be a wife of someone. She too wanted to do makeup of a married woman, the sindoor, mangalsutra, payal, chudi, bichudi, etc.
But how? What could be done for her? Everyone wanted to see her happy coz she was a charming and strong woman but her disheartened emotions were not hidden from anyone too.

Then someone though of an idea which would give her everything that she wanted, happiness and a status of a married woman too!

Yesterday she got married, on the day of Tulsi Vivah  to lord Vishnu's avatar Shalagram! All the rituals of real marriage were performed and everything was same like a normal wedding, relatives were called, Pandit, Agni, Havan, Phere, Shadi with lord Krishna's idol!

I was amazed with this thought and the ceremony!

Though due to exams I couldn't attend the wedding but somewhere this incident touched me. I'm happy for her and I hope she remain happy forever now.
In India we always say Pati-Parmeshwar and she really got married to God.
Somewhere I feel it's feelings that are important and not what the reality says. Marriage is a ritual that has to be connected with our heart, if our heart accepts someone to be ours, his/her existence physically doesn't matter (again excluding general expectations of a normal life!) but it's all upon us. If we can accept it nothing is strange and unbelievable and if we can't then real marriages too broke!

I told her that she is lucky, her husband will always listen to her and everything that she wants to say! After all we pray to god for everything we desire and being her husband now it's Gods responsibility to fulfil her desires! :-D

Also, we've heard in stories that lord Krishna married women who needed his support that is why he have 108 or so wives.

I'm amazed and surprised with my own reaction to this incident!   :O
:-D

Tulsi Vivah!

Once upon a time Lord Indra began to fear that he was losing the respect among the people as they seemed to worship only the Trimurthy’s. He knew that he couldn’t replace the Gods of Creation and Sustenance (Brahma and Vishnu) but thought people wouldn’t worship Lord Shiva as after all he was only a God of Destruction. So with the intention of waging a war with him, he went to Kailasham. Lord Shiva having foreseen this, assumed the form of the gana, prevented him from entering and challenged him. As they fought, Lord Shiva’s anger kept growing and he very soon overpowered Indra. Indra then prostrated before him and Lord Shiva forgave him but he deposited the left over anger into the ocean. That anger took the form of a baby by name ‘Jalandhara’. He grew up very powerful desiring to be an Asura. When he reached the marriageable age, he approached a powerful Asura named ‘Kalanemi’ who was Ravana’s uncle and sought the hand of his extremely beautiful and intelligent daughter Vrinda who was one of the foremost devotees of Lord Vishnu. After the marriage Jalandhara became extremely powerful due to Vrinda’s yogic powers and prayers to Lord Vishnu. Observing this Shukracharya, the Guru of Asuras made him the King of Asuras. Jalandhara had now conquered all of the earth and was preparing to conquer Indra’s Heaven. Now Indra and other gods approached Lord Shiva for a solution who agreed to talk to Jalandhara. But talks for peace by Lord Shiva failed as Jalandhara insulted him on how he called himself an ascetic and still had a wife Devi Parvathi. Jalandhara proved too powerful even for Lord Shiva during the battle and he trapped all the gods using illusionary power. Jalandhar took the form of Lord Shiva himself and approached Parvarthy with a sinister mind. But Devi with her powers could see through his design and immediately picked her sword to attack him. Jalandhara now feeling a little weak from battle with Lord Shiva and aware of Parvathi’s supreme battle powers, vanished. Lord Vishnu found Parvathi extremely furious and upon knowing the reason, explained to her that since Jalandhara was the husband of his great devotee Vrinda, he was bound to be very powerful due to her prayers. Seeing Parvathy’s anguish, Lord Vishnu with a heavy heart agreed to intervene. He took the form of Jalandhara, went to Vrinda who was deep in prayer to Lord Vishnu for her husband’s safety and called out to her. For a moment Vrinda stopped praying and looked towards “her husband”. At that precise moment Lord Shiva killed Jalandhara as Vrinda had stopped praying for him. Vrinda got to know through her powers that something was wrong and Lord Vishnu took his original form to explain her why he had to do that. But Vrinda was heartbroken and cursed Lord Vishnu that since he stood like a stone while his devotee suffered, he would turn black and reside in a stone and will also be separated from his wife. Lord Vishnu gracefully accepted the curse and sat next to his dead devotee Vrinda feeling very upset.

Lord Shiva came to Lord Vishnu and consoled him not to be grieve as his devotee would be re-born as the Tulsi plant(Vrinda) and would always be part of every ones prayers to Lord Vishnu.  As part of the curse, Lord Vishnu’s spirit entered the Saligram (black stone) found in the river Gomti (Nepal).

Found this story on net, thought of sharing! :-)
I like stories, especially mythological ones which are basis of rituals we follow, it's important to know reason too for performing any ritual. :-)

Aae Halllooo...

As the garba music touched my ear drums, they brought back memories of childhood...

I would play garba like mad from start of night till the last person on the floor I would be there with them shaking my legs with the rhythm and in correct tune with everyone else considered elder to me then. Started playing at a very young age of 5 yrs around. Mom would dress me up on different themes and I would go to do garba in the society where I lived as a child.
People would get busy watching KBC and that would annoy me coz we would start of late and then end at the same time coz everyone had office or some other commitments to be done next day for which they need proper sleep and also to some they had get up early!
Today remembering those days it seemed like so many things have changed yet few remaining same. I'm now not a toddler but an adult with my own commitments and busy schedules, my place of dwelling has changed and currently they don't celebrate it, for whatever reason it may be, not a matter of discussion for now. Last I played garba was approx 13 yrs back! Yeah...
Long long back...
But then everyone considered me a child and would not let me play in main stream but a small group would be formed inside the circle formed by elders where small children would be asked to play. I would hate it so much then that the feeling of sadness still can be felt deep inside somewhere! I would wish to grow up and then dance with them, the elders and then no one will stop me from dancing with them I would wonder.
But didn't knew that after I grow up I would not even get a chance to have a glimpse of seeing others play garba, forget about myself playing it! Whole lot of years flew away listening same songs from my window and remembering the childhood while having books in front of me. Maximum, I would dance on my own on those songs when the lost child inside me would return back.

This year that sound too vanished as a new concrete stood in between that complex and mine. So it was blank, dumb and silent... And me and my books were left at peace yet empty...

Today was change from it... KBC was still on air, as I said, few things that didn't change was this, Mr. Bachchan's presence in our lives, may he long live with all his wisdom and talent, I wanted to change something today. I asked my family if anyone interested in coming to watch the garba program that is being very nicely and in great way organised at a distance 10 mins walkable from my home, being near I was still far from it since past 13yrs...
Enough of sacrifices I've made for my academics and yet it had not assured me any secured out put, this regret of losing on to something that cannot be brought back for something that too didn't yield anything is very itchy! I wanted to get over it. I've seen people, enjoying everything and yet today they're all established professionals too. It's all about knowing your priorities definitely but also about doing things with focus and in right way whenever you do it. Book in front of me but me dreaming about something that I can't do is all waste of sacrifices and yet no results of it situation...
Hence I decided that this time I'm gonna have fun as well as studies both...
I went with family to see garba. There was such a huge crowd. People in thousands were present. Many shaking their legs few looking them shake their legs! I wanted to shake mine too but was not sure if my legs would play the same rhythm as I could as a child? We returned back home. I played a song on my cell and started playing garba trying that rhythm that I saw today after years...
For my surprise I could dance with same rhythm... And I continued to enjoy myself and my night...
As the garba music touched my ear drums, they brought back memories of childhood...

PS: This life of ours is too short to live heavy hearted, with regrets, rather we must live to learn what we want exactly and in what our happiness lies? We can always manage time except we decide to do so!
Today found child-me in lost grown-up-ME... :-)

10 days Passed

Hmm... Unbelievably 10 days have passed post exam I have been busy with many things in these days, may be that's why I felt that 10days passed by so quickly.
Have been to ISKON, Juhu, one of my most favorite destinations! Then of course a fool would come back from Juhu without going to Juhu Chaupati, isn't it! ;) So I had blast over there. Then other days I went to Siddhivinayak, again the next peaceful destination. But being Tuesday, it took me 3 hrs to get in the temple. But God is great, you know! Then from there we went to Nehru Planetarium, I had never been to this place before due to some odd reasons and now I got the opportunity to be there though we reached there at 2pm and the show was of 4pm but where there is a will there is a way. We passed out time by clicking 100's of pics, all contains ME, hope no doubt! :) Then from there we went to Charni Chaupati, even here I had been for the first time! I always saw it in T. V. during Ganesh visarjan, as we all know! :) I had Gola (I don't know the other word for it, if you feel it hard to understand then) wow, its so tasty, I had it almost after so many years, mixed flavor, also proof pic of this memorable incident! :p
One day I went to Metro Junction Mall, Planned for a movie but could not succeed... ;(
I haven't yet been to Fame there, don't faint at this please... But I saw "Ek Deewana Tha" just for BSP, she was going is going crazy about this movie. I liked it but not all that very much that my every message to someone would contain some memories of it... But I don't mind it, we could easily bear each others madness, for that matter... :) Her thought is that since we saw it separately and not with her hence I didn't liked it! Really!?
Today, finally Mom catch hold of me and we did lots of cleaning, I'm tired like anything. Thankfully IPL is ending today, I'm fed up of it! Hope it ends completely, I'm bored yarr...
Confused about my future, want to explore myself more, lets see what I find in ME...
Have list of movies to watch, haven't found time to watch them, will now watch them first...
Also have lots of books to read as well, will then read them too...
Phew! Many things to do and it's one one poor person me, lets see what all things I could do in next many days of leave left with me...
Till then...
Take Care All...
Have Fun!
Enjoy Life!

Interesting Reading 19

‎"The whole idea that children are your possession is wrong.
They are born through you, but they do not belong to you.
You have a past, they have only a future.
They are not going to live according to you.
To live according to you will be almost equivalent to not living at all.
They have to live according to themselves — in freedom, in responsibility, in danger, in challenge.

Interesting Reading 16

The words of Christ "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
These words are literally true, not figures or fiction...
Was there anything you did not get which you really wanted? It could not be. For it is the want that creates the body. It is the light that has bored the
holes, as it were, in your head, called the eyes. If the light had not existed, you would have had no eyes. It is sound that had made the ears. The object of perception existed first, before you made the organ."

Only Love is Real -the story of Soulmates reunited

Recently came across this book on one bookstall. Could not resist from buying it.
Reading it. It's indeed great book on reincarnation & real love stories.
I can remember my musing regarding if the Soul mates thing really exists?
And may be this can be considered as an answer to my question.
The book is by Dr. Brian Weiss

His First book is, "Many Lives. Many Masters"
"Only Love is Real" is his second book
and Other one is "Same Soul Many Bodies"

Bought the second one first, but now I have Many Lives. Many Masters as well, will read after I finish this one.
Haven't yet found Same Soul Many Bodies. But will read that one as well.
I liked it, you can try, if you like reading LOVE STORIES.

You can relate the book with the show that once came on T. V. named, "Raaz Pichle Janam Ka" I believed in that and I'm believing in this book as well.

If you have any suggestions, then they are most welcome.

Happy Reading! :)

One Of The Best Arguments....

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty.
He asks one of his new students to stand and…..
Prof: So you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.
Prof: Is God good?
Student: Sure.
Prof: Is God all-powerful?
Student: Yes..
Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is this God good then? Hmm?
(Student is silent.)
Prof: You can’t answer, can you? Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student: Yes.
Prof: Is Satan good?
Student: No.
Prof: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From….God…
Prof: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.
Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.
Prof: So who created evil?
(Student does not answer.)
Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
Student: Yes, sir.
Prof: So, who created them?
(Student has no answer.)
Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son…Have you ever seen God?
Student: No, sir.
Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student: No, sir.
Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student: Yes.
Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn’t exist.
What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.
Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.
Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Prof: Yes.
Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Prof: Yes.
Student: No sir. There isn’t.
(The lecture the after becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat..
But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it .
(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)
Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright
light, flashing light…..But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought.. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one.To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is
not the opposite of life: just the absence of it.
Now tell me, Professor.Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)
Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)
Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?
(The class breaks out into laughter.)
